Taqueria Vallarta; Santa Cruz County, CA (6 of 10)
If you’re a local in the County of Santa Cruz, then you’ve been to Taqueria Vallarta on more than 1 occasion. Whether you’re after a super buritto, nachos, or the lesser known (but still amazing) breakfast burrito with chorizo, one of the 4 Vallarta locations in the county is an obvious choice for quick, cheap, delicious Mexican food. While almost anything off the Vallarta menu is a safe bet, my personal favourite has to be the super nachos with carne asada. A delicious stop, especially after hours of surfing, Taquerilla Vallarta has locations in Capitola (on 41st Ave), 2 in Santa Cruz (on Soquel Dr. and downtown on Pacific Ave), and the newish Felton location off of Highway 9. This Mexican restaurant scores a 6 out of 10 on the Mexi-scale.

This place is greasy and dirty. I have to suggest Tortilla Flats in downtown Soquel. They have the best Mexican food around Santa Cruz!! Check out their website at http://www.tortillaflatsdining.com
[...] for my carne asada burrito, it was pretty similar to that of Vallarta or Iguana’s. Not bad, but nothing overly special. Mexiscale rating = 6.5 out of 10. [...]
